Pending approval by the National Assembly, the resolutions on establishing Dong Nai as a centrally governed city are expected to take effect on April 30, 2026, coinciding with the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The formal designation of Dong Nai as a city will mark a major milestone for nearly 4.5 million residents, where history, present, and future converge to inspire pride, renewed expectations, and a stronger sense of resolve.

This meaningful alignment is far from coincidental. Dong Nai’s position has been shaped over nearly 330 years of history, particularly through more than half a century of resilience and unity under the leadership of the Party and local authorities. Throughout that journey, the province has upheld the spirit of the “resilient and heroic eastern region,” fostering bold thinking and decisive action while striving to take the lead in national industrialization and modernization.

These achievements reflect the dedication and intellect of generations of officials, Party members, and citizens. At the same time, they embody a deep-rooted tradition of gratitude, honoring the sacrifices of earlier generations. From the historic legacy of D War Zone, once a key resistance base, to the decisive campaigns of Road 14 – Phuoc Long and Xuan Loc – Long Khanh, Dong Nai has long demonstrated a steadfast and indomitable spirit, contributing to the nation’s victory in the spring of 1975. That legacy has continued to be reinforced, especially over four decades of renewal.

Today, that spirit is clearly visible in major infrastructure projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, alongside key bridges, expressways, and ring roads. It is also reflected in the development of next-generation industrial zones and the acceleration of site clearance efforts. Together, these initiatives are reshaping the province’s urban landscape toward greater modernity and connectivity. Meanwhile, farmers are proactively shifting to high-tech agriculture, meeting increasingly stringent export standards.

Nevertheless, the goal of transforming Dong Nai into a centrally governed city extends beyond impressive economic indicators, budget contributions, per capita income or a modern, integrated, and synchronized transportation infrastructure system. Its image and stature is equally defined by historical depth, cultural identity, and heroic revolutionary spirit. These elements shape the character of Dong Nai’s people resilient, dynamic, and creative, with a strong aspiration to rise in all circumstances. In turn, they reinforce the collective strength of national solidarity in building a green and prosperous city for the future.

Looking ahead, the heroic spirit of Tran Bien continues to guide comprehensive reform decisions and decisive actions across the political system, awakening new momentum that drives the citizens of Dong Nai to overcome all difficulties and challenges, moving forward to victory. With an urban governance model in place, Dong Nai is set to gain greater institutional flexibility. This will create more room for development, enabling a balanced approach between economic growth and urban expansion while preserving and promoting heritage values. In doing so, the province aims to remain a historic and symbolic destination that nurtures patriotism and inspires future generations to contribute to the nation.

Ultimately, the enduring spirit of the historic spring victory will not merely remain a legacy of the past. Instead, it will continue to accompany Dong Nai on its journey toward realizing the long-term vision of becoming a centrally governed city in the time ahead.
