On February 6, a working delegation from Champasak province (Lao People’s Democratic Republic), led by Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee SouPhap ThammaHaksa, paid a visit and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to the leaders of Dong Nai province on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. Accompanying the delegation were Consul General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City Phonesy Bounmixay along with other delegation members.

The delegation was received by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC) Vo Tan Duc, Member of the PPC and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, and representatives of provincial departments, agencies, and units.
In a warm and cordial atmosphere, Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee SouPhap ThammaHaksa congratulated the successful organization of the 14th National Party Congress and the first Provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term. He also praised the achievements in consolidating and streamlining the organizational apparatus from the central to local levels, and conveyed his best wishes to the leaders of Dong Nai province on the occasion of the traditional Tet of Vietnam.

He emphasized that the achievements of the Communist Party of Vietnam are not only of great and profound significance to the cause of national defense, construction, and development of Vietnam, but also serve as valuable lessons and a strong source of encouragement for the Party, State, and people of Laos in implementing renovation efforts and safeguarding and developing their country in the new period. Champasak and Dong Nai provinces established cooperative relations in 2001, and over the years, Dong Nai has shown strong attention, support, and valuable assistance to Champasak across multiple fields.

During recent years, the two sides have signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation and jointly implemented them successfully, achieving many practical and encouraging results through concrete activities such as exchanges of high-level delegations, meetings and interactions among departments, agencies, units, and mass organizations at various levels. Cooperation has been particularly strengthened in the fields of politics, economy, culture, society, human resource training, healthcare, infrastructure, and mass organization activities.

SouPhap ThammaHaksa expressed his hope that in the coming time, the two provinces will continue to effectively implement the memorandum of understanding on strengthening friendly cooperative relations between the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee and the Champasak Provincial authorities for the 2022–2026 period. This includes enhancing exchanges of high-level delegations from provinces, cities, departments, sectors, districts, units, social organizations, and associations to deepen mutual understanding and share experiences; improving the effectiveness of cooperation in areas of mutual interest; and promoting and facilitating favorable conditions for enterprises from both sides to explore markets, promote products, and invest and conduct business in the two provinces in an efficient manner.

Welcoming the Champasak delegation, Deputy Secretary of the PPC Vo Tan Duc expressed his pleasure that the visit took place at a particularly meaningful time for Vietnam, as the 14th National Party Congress had just been successfully held, opening a new era of development for the country. Vietnam continues to affirm its independent, self-reliant foreign policy of peace, cooperation, and development, along with the diversification and multilateralization of external relations, while attaching great importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable cooperation with neighboring countries, including the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Providing information on Dong Nai province, Deputy Secretary of the PPC Vo Tan Duc noted that following the administrative merger, the new Dong Nai province has a larger scale and broader development space. The province has made significant efforts to stabilize its organizational structure while focusing on achieving socio-economic development goals, recording many notable and commendable results: the provincial economic scale has reached nearly 700 trillion VND, ranking fourth nationwide; GRDP per capita has approached 151 million VND; state budget revenue has reached nearly 103 trillion VND; and people’s living standards have continued to improve, with employment and social welfare well ensured.

Notably, on December 19, 2025, Long Thanh International Airport welcomed its first technical flight and is ready to commence commercial operations in 2026, creating a strong driving force for the province’s development in the coming period.

Deputy Secretary of the PPC Vo Tan Duc affirmed that Dong Nai will continue to nurture and further strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperative relationship that Binh Phuoc province, the former Dong Nai province, and Champasak province have worked hard to build.
In the time ahead, the province will continue to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, people-to-people diplomacy, and mutual support for win-win development, thereby contributing to further deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
