Dong Nai’s working delegation pays New Year visits to foreign representative offices in Ho Chi Minh City

In the run-up to the New Year 2026 and the Lunar New Year 2026, under the authorization of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, a working delegation led by Huynh Thi Be Nam, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, paid New Year courtesy visits to diplomatic missions and representative offices of foreign localities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Within the framework of the program, on December 24, the delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Ho Chi Minh City. Both sides highly appreciated the results of cooperation in recent years between Dong Nai Province and localities of the Russian Federation, notably in delegation exchanges, trade and investment promotion, people-to-people exchanges, and the connecting role of the Vietnam–Russia Friendship Association of Dong Nai Province.

Based on each side’s potential and development orientations, Dong Nai Province discussed directions to strengthen coordination with the Consulate General of the Russian Federation to promote cooperation with Sverdlovsk province, aiming toward establishing an official cooperation framework. Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Ho Chi Minh City, acknowledged and highly valued Dong Nai’s cooperation orientation, affirming that he would coordinate and connect with Russian localities to further promote increasingly effective and substantive cooperation between the two sides.

The Dong Nai’s working delegation also visited and conveyed New Year greetings to the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City.

On the basis of the good cooperative relationship and existing potential, Dong Nai Province aims to expand and elevate cooperation with Thai localities, especially Ubon Ratchathani Province, with a focus on high-tech and environmentally friendly projects, and to discuss the possibility of studying air connectivity between Thailand and Long Thanh International Airport in the coming period.

Wiraka Mudhitaporn, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, congratulated Vietnam and Dong Nai Province on the effective implementation of the two-tier local government model. She affirmed that the Thai Consulate General would continue to accompany and coordinate efforts in promoting activities of the Thai business community in Dong Nai, contributing to strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. She also noted that 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam–Thailand diplomatic relations, creating momentum to promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

On the same day, the Dong Nai’s working delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to the Consulate General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, both sides reviewed and reaffirmed the enduring value of the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, as well as the increasingly in-depth cooperation between Dong Nai Province and the southern provinces of Laos.

Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed sincere thanks for the attention, visit, and New Year greetings from Dong Nai’s leadership, and highly appreciated the active and effective role of the Dong Nai Department of Foreign Affairs in advising, connecting, and implementing local cooperation activities.

Both sides agreed to continue close coordination in promoting investment promotion activities, prioritizing tourism and other potential sectors aligned with each side’s development orientations, thereby further deepening the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The Dong Nai’s delegation also visited and conveyed New Year greetings to the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the reception, both sides agreed to continue strengthening the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Dong Nai Province and Cambodian provinces, focusing on people-to-people exchanges, education and training, culture and tourism, especially coordination in border affairs, contributing to maintaining stability and sustainable development in border areas.

Based on the agreements that have been and are being implemented, Dong Nai Province discussed directions to strengthen coordination with Cambodian central and local agencies through the connecting role of the Consulate General, with a view to enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation implementation in the coming period.

Chan Sorykan, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed sincere thanks to the Dong Nai’s working delegation and highly appreciated and supported Dong Nai Province’s proactive efforts to continue signing cooperation agreements with six Cambodian provinces. He affirmed that he would continue to accompany and connect efforts to promote friendship and cooperation between localities of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Within the program, the Dong Nai’s working delegation also visited and extended New Year greetings to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, both sides discussed further deepening friendly relations, enhancing information sharing, and promoting people-to-people diplomacy, emphasizing connectivity activities through the Vietnam–ASEAN Friendship Association of Dong Nai Province.

Carolina Tinangon, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed appreciation for the attention from Dong Nai’s leaders and highly valued the province’s position, potential, and development advantages, especially as Long Thanh International Airport prepares to commence operations, opening up many new cooperation opportunities for businesses of both sides.

On this occasion, the Dong Nai’s working delegation also visited and conveyed New Year greetings to the Representative Office of Jeollanam-do Province (Republic of Korea) in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the working session, both sides affirmed that the friendly cooperative relationship established in 2019 has continued to be consolidated and developed positively, especially after the signing of the Letter of Intent on Cooperation in 2024, which created a foundation for expanding concrete and effective cooperation programs.

Both sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of the committed cooperation contents, focusing on exchanges of civil servants, education and culture cooperation, as well as people-to-people exchanges, ensuring practicality and alignment with each locality’s strengths.

Park Kyung Ae, Head of the Representative Office of Jeollanam-do Province in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed sincere thanks for the attention from Dong Nai’s leadership and highly appreciated the cooperation results and the increasingly close ties between the two localities, affirming continued coordination to promote exchanges and expand cooperation, thereby further deepening friendship between localities of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

The visits to extend New Year greetings to foreign representative offices in Ho Chi Minh City in the run-up to the New Year 2026 are Dong Nai’s annual external relations activities of practical significance, contributing to strengthening trust, enhancing mutual understanding, and expanding cooperation with international partners, thereby creating favorable conditions for investment attraction, socio-economic development, and enhancement of the province’s external relations standing in the coming period.
