The 14th National Assembly’s ongoing eighth session held its sixth working day in Hanoi on October 28 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
In the morning, lawmakers listened to a report collecting feedback on the draft revised Law on Militia and Self-Defence Forces by Chairman of the NA’s Committee on National Defence and Security Vo Trong Viet.
Fifteen lawmakers presented their opinions on the draft, mostly in favour of the need to amend and supplement the law.
Also in the morning, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh reported on the State’s external activities 2019.
In the afternoon, Viet delivered another report on feedback on the Law on immigration by Vietnamese citizens
Eighteen legislators expressed their views on procedures for the issuance of popular, official and diplomatic passports, immigration management, among others.
Minister of Public Security To Lam later clarified issues of deputies’ concern.
Concluding discussions, NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty, who managed the day, said the NA Standing Committee will direct agencies concerned to fine-tune draft laws before submitting them to the legislature for approval.
On October 29, the NA will have a plenary meeting to hear a report on the draft amendments of and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, among others.
