The Party chief affirmed Vietnam’s unwavering policy of attributing importance to boosting and expanding friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Indonesia and asked the two sides to step up cooperation across a variety of fields, especially in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, as well as within the framework of ASEAN and regional and international forums for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world at large.
President Widodo expressed his delight in attending the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) in Hanoi and witnessing Vietnam’s recent achievements in socio-economic development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
He briefed the Party leader on the outcome of his meetings with Presidents Trang Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, while assuring his nation Indonesia will closely coordinate with Vietnam in maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation in the region, as well as in building a strong and united ASEAN Community.
He expressed his desire to enhance comprehensive collaboration through the Party, Government, and people channels in future, especially in delegation exchange.
On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, on behalf of the Party, Government, and people of Vietnam, extended deep sympathy on the huge losses caused by recent earthquakes in Lombok to President Widodo, the Indonesian Government and its people.

At a reception the same day for Hu Chunhua, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese Vice Premier, who is on a visit to Vietnam for the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN), the Party leader called for more bilateral high-level exchanges and implement leaders’ common perception, including the Vietnam-China agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues.
The Chinese party official congratulated Vietnam on its successful hosting of the WEF ASEAN 2018, affirming the Chinese Party, Government and people’s treasuring relations with Vietnam and pledged to promote bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.
He said his nation is ready to import more Vietnamese goods and asked for more people-to-people exchanges and youth cooperation so as to consolidate political trust, promote strategic connection as well as cooperation between ministries, sectors, and localities for the stable and healthy development of the partnership between the two nations.
