(ĐN) – Dong Nai provincial People's Council opened the 16th session, the last in the eighth tenure (2011 – 2016), on December 9.

The session was attended by Secretary Nguyen Phu Cuong of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman Tran Van Tu of People’s Council, Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of People’s Committee, and Chairman Huynh Van Toi of Fatherland Front Committee.

The session reviewed the province’s socio-economic performance and its security and defence in 2015, as well as set up goals, missions and solutions for 2016 and 2016-2020 period basing on the resolution of the recent 10th provincial Party Congress and on the real situation in the locality.

Opening the four-day session, Mr Tran Van Tu, Chairman of the council, said the province spared no efforts in overcoming difficulties to accomplish its socio-economic development goals this year, while ensuring public order.

Accordingly, Dong Nai has fulfilled and exceeded almost all socio-economic targets for 2015 set by the council, posting stable and fair economic growth. Local gross domestic product this year grew by 11.75 percent from 2014.

Addressing at the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Phu Cuong said despite numerous challenges, the whole Party, people and forces stayed united to overcome challenges and successfully achieve the 2015 socio-economic development goals and the 2011-2016 plan, keeping the province on track for the next development phase, he said.

At the session, participants are scheduled to analyse the achievement the province reaped and point out causes of shortcomings and weaknesses, with the aim of completing tasks set for the next year.
