President Truong Tan Sang hosted warm receptions to newly-appointed ambassadors of Namibia, Lesotho, Papua New Guinea and Burkina Faso who came to present their credentials in Hanoi on May 28.

Receiving Namibian Ambassador Ringo F. Abed, President Sang expressed hope for stronger bilateral cooperation through the implementation of agreements reached during the Namibian President’s visit to Vietnam.

Abed, for his part, said he will work hard to contribute to ties between the two nations.

At his meeting with Lesotho Ambassador Bothata Tskoane, the President suggested both governments and business communities increase visits to establish direct contacts, making it easier for them to expand cooperation to the potential fields of telecommunications, education and health care.

The ambassador said his country is keen to share experiences with Vietnam in agriculture and fisheries.

Meanwhile, President Sang told Papua New Guinea Ambassador Peter Llau that Vietnam hopes to discuss a double taxation avoidance mechanism with Papua New Guinea to facilitate the trade of goods.

Llau said he hopes Vietnam will back Papua New Guinea in its bid to host the APEC meeting by 2018 and suggested liquefied gas production as a potential field for bilateral economic cooperation.

At the reception for Burkina Faso Ambassador Ouedraogo Idriss Faoua, the President expressed his support for the ambassador’s proposal on collaboration in education and farming, while suggesting that telecommunication is also worth considering as it is one of Vietnam’s strengths.

Faoua said his country is also keen on two-way tertiary education with Vietnam as both countries are Francophone members.

He said his country’s President hopes to welcome the Vietnamese President to Burkina Faso in the coming time.
