Ceremony honors blood donors

(ĐN) - 256 individuals from across the province were honoured at a ceremony in Bien Hoa city on June 14 for their blood donation efforts.

(ĐN) - 256 individuals from across the province were honoured at a ceremony in Bien Hoa city on June 14 for their blood donation efforts. The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Vinh.

The event aimed to mark World Blood Donor Day on June 14.

 

According to Dong Nai province’s Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, its blood donation programs in 2010 attracted the participation of more than 20,000 volunteers and collected nearly 19,000 blood units, fulfilling 118 percent of the year’s target. It helped to solve blood shortages in the province’s hospitals and Cho Ray Regional Blood Transfusion and Haematology Centre.

 

At the ceremony, the organizing board awarded certificates of merit of Vietnam Red Cross Association to 4 collectives and 4 individuals for their achievements in Red Spring Festival.

 

On this occasion, the Steering Committee launched summer blood donation campaign and called for local people to actively participated in the campaign, providing enough blood for the treatment of patients in the province.
