(ĐN)- The Dong Nai provincial Buddhist Sangha recently held a ceremony to inaugurate Truc Lam Tri Duc Zen Monastery in An Phuoc commune, Long Thanh district. Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Bui Ngoc Thanh and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga attended the event.
Construction of the Truc Lam Tri Duc Zen Monastery started in May 2009. The Monastery covers an area of 10.5 hectares. It is one of the distinctive features of the system of pagodas of the Truc Lam Zen. In Vietnam there are about 20 Truc Lam Zen monasteries, mainly in the South. In the North there are only three Zen institutes and pagodas, including Tay Thien (Vinh Phuc), Yen Tu (Quang Ninh) and Sung Phuc (Hanoi). The Monastery is known as not only a holy land attracting a large number of Buddhist pilgrims but also a beautiful tourist destination.
Addressing at the ceremony, Mrs. Bui Ngoc Thanh said that the Zen monastery is the place for Buddhist followers to lead a religious life and research the tenets of Zen studies and it also creates a spiritual tourist destination attracting both domestic and foreign tourists.
