According to report by the province’s Farmers’ Association, the association admitted nearly 11,400 new members in 2010, taking the total number to around 213,000. It has made efforts in helping poor farmers to develop production and improve their living conditions as well as to promote the emulation movements in production. Accordingly, more than 146,000 farmer households in the province registered to participate in the emulation movements of good production and business in 2010 and nearly 80,000 households won this title, accounting for nearly 89 per cent of the total registered households. In addition, the association has coordinated with banks in Dong Nai over the past year to provide credit loans to more than 50,000 farmer households to develop production. Moreover, the Association has mobilized support from rich farmers’ households to provide seeds and fertilizers to over 4,800 poor farmer families in order to help them raise their productivity and increase income.
Addressing at the meeting, Mrs. Bui Ngoc Thanh stressed that the need to raise the quality of activities of farmers’ associations at all levels, concentrate on strengthening the staff, promote emulation movements of good production and business and improve farmers living conditions.
