(ĐN)- An outbreak of petechial fever is threatening Dong Nai province, with over 200 people with the disease being hospitalised in recent two weeks, according to the Provincial Preventive Medicine Centre.
So far, this year there were nearly 1,100 petechial fever patients recorded with three death cases occurring in Dong Nai.
Cases of the fever were on the rise in Bien Hoa city, Trang Bom, Vinh Cuu and Xuan Loc districts. Children were the most vulnerable group, particularly children aged under 10 years.
Mosquitoes are the main cause of the disease, which can lead to respiratory and digestive problems, and even death. The disease was attributed to bad and wet weather and poor living conditions, which created favourable breeding conditions for mosquitoes.
