(ĐN)- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat on Friday visited blue-ear epidemic-hit areas in Dong Nai including Vinh Cuu district’s Vinh Tan commune and Trang Bom district’s Bac Son commune. The Minister warned that the disease is spreading across the country and he urged local authorities to strictly control the transport, slaughtering and trading of pigs in blue-ear epidemic-hit areas to prevent the deadly disease spreading further. He also asked the provincial authorities to provide support for families that have pigs culled.
According to Hoang Son Hai, head of the Dong Nai provincial Veterinary Department, until August 13, the province has destroyed nearly 2,000 infected pigs and Vinh Tan and Bac Son Communes have temporarily got control of the disease.
Blue-ear pig disease has spread to 21 provinces and cities nationwide, including Nghe An, Cao Bang, Soc Trang, Tien Giang, Lao Cai, Long An, Binh Duong, Bac Lieu, Quang Nam, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Da Nang, Vinh Long, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Hau Giang, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, An Giang and Dong Thap.
