(ĐN)- A ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of the National Highway 51 was held on August 2 in Long Thanh district’s Tam Phuoc commune by Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway Development J.S Company (BVEC). The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan, Minister of Transport Ho Nghia Dung, President of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour Dang Ngoc Tung and leaders of Dong Nai, Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces and HCM city.

The project includes the expansion of 21 bridges and construction of 8 other river bridges and 13 flyovers in the densely-populated areas at a total cost of 3.2 trillion VND (177.7 million USD).
The Deputy PM described the highway as a traffic artery of strategic significance to the southern economic zone.
Hai asked administrations and residents of Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, where the road is to run across, to provide best available conditions for the project to finish in 30 months on schedule.
