The mother of a six-year-old child who tested positive for the virus on June 4 was also confirmed as being positive for the A/H1N1 virus. This is the fifth case in Vietnam.

The HCM City Pasteur Institute confirmed this case, a 39-year-old Vietnamese-American woman, who lives in Texas, the US.

The woman and her six-year-old daughter returned from the US to Vietnam on May 29. After that, she went to the southern province of Dong Nai.

Her daughter was diagnosed as being infected with the A/H1N1 virus on June 4 after she was moved from Dong Nai Hospital in Dong Nai province to the HCM City Children’s Hospital No. 2 on June 4. The two patients are being isolated for treatment.

The Health Ministry asked related agencies to search for the 171 passengers on the same flight as the two patients in order to keep close watch over them.

The ministry warned that all passengers who come to Vietnam from countries with A/H1N1, especially those on flight OZ 731 from South Korea on May 29, have to keep track of their health for seven days.
