
(ĐN)- Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot yesterday hosted a delegation of the Council of Ethnic Minorities of the National Assembly, led by its Chairman Giang Seo Phu.
At the meeting, the provincial leaders reported to the delegation the socio-economic situation and the implementation of ethnic policies in the province.
Dong Nai has a population of over 2.3 million. Ethnic minority people in the province comprise 31 groups, with a combined population of 172,876. So far, Dong Nai has provided vocational training to nearly 2,000 children of ethnic minority families within the province. There are two Ethnic Minority Students’ Boarding Schools in the province. Hundreds of ethnic students have enrolled in colleges and universities nationwide. Currently, 100 per cent of extremely difficult communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Dong Nai have medical workers. The province is implementing six projects of settled agriculture and fixed residence for minority ethnic people with the fund from the provincial budget and each poor ethnic families will be granted VND 14 million to build house.
Chairman Giang Seo Phu required the local authority to focus on raising the intellectual standards of ethnic minority people, training and employing staff from ethnic groups.
During their stay in Dong Nai, the delegation visited the Vocational College No.8 under Ministry of Defense.
