(ĐN)- Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga last week chaired a meeting with representatives of the provincial steering committee for summer activities 2008 to review summers activities and discuss plans for upcoming year.

According to a report from the province’s steering committee for summer activities 2008, a programme of summer activities have been organized by the steering committee suitable for all ages. The highlight of this year’s summer activities programme was the participation of volunteers from local armed forces that took part in outdoor activities, the mass mobilisation and participated in exchange meetings with local youth union members. However, the shortcoming was a lack of attention from authorities in some localities and a lack of expenditure that did not facilitate the participation of grassroots in summer activities at the provincial level.
The theme of next year’s summer activities programme will be “The summer with joyful, healthy, safe and friendly”.
Vice Chairwoman Huynh Thi Nga urged local agencies and youth unions at all levels to create effective and practical plans to contribute socio-economic development of the province.
On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to 24 collectives and 27 individuals for their outstanding achievements and contribution to summer activities programme 2008. At the same time, 16 students were rewarded scholarships for their outstanding achievements in learning by the Provincial Youth Union.
