Announcement ceremony of detailed planning of Long Thanh International Airport

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with the South Aviation Port Complex organized an announcement ceremony of a detailed planning of Long Thanh International Airport in Long Thanh district on the morning of December 19. Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Le Hong Phuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with the South Aviation Port Complex organized an announcement ceremony of a detailed planning of Long Thanh International Airport in Long Thanh district on the morning of December 19. Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Le Hong Phuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

According to the plan, the airport will cover on an area of 5,000 ha that straddles the communes of Long Phuoc, Long An, Binh Son, Suoi Trau, Bau Can and Cam Duong. It is estimated that about 10,000 households will have to move from the project area before starting the project.

The new airport is expected to be operational by 2015. It will have a passenger terminal, 2 parallel runways (4,000m x 60 m) to allow two landings or takeoffs at the same time, is capable to handle biggest aircraft like Airbus A380 or Boeing 777. The airport is designated to handle  100 million passengers and 5 million metric tonnes of cargo per annum. Total cost estimate to build this airport is around $8 billion invested from the governments investment budget, private and foreign funds. Based on the demand of the transportation, the investment will be divided in phases. The estimated investment for the first phase of the project is 32000 billion VND.
