(ĐN) – Provincial leaders on February 8 received a delegation of the National Assembly’s Committee led by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu, President of the Commission of Social Affairs.
The purpose of working session between the National Assembly delegation and provincial leaders is the implementation of policies on labor, women laborers, vocational training, employment, social security etc. as well as the settlement of cases relating to strikes and disputes involving jobs, payment… within foreign-invested companies conducted by local authorities. Besides, the delegation also learnt what difficulties local enterprises encountered while they were implementing all polices for their workers.
At the working session, the Provincial Labor, War Invalids and Social Affair Service reported that the number of manufacturing workers in Dong Nai province was more than 430,000. Of which, women who were mainly immigrant labors from localities across the country accounted for 67% of the province’s total labor force. Upon successful completion of the probation period, most of employees became regular status employees in local enterprises and enjoyed social security, monthly payment and bonus in accordance with the Labor Law. Especially, some foreign companies really built housing for their workers whose spiritual life was also concerned. However, a large number of workers are still facing difficulties in finding affordable, decent housing to rent. Many of them live in private rented accommodation, often in poor living conditions.
