(ĐN) – Dong Nai provincial party committee secretary Tran Dinh Thanh and its deputy secretary Le Hong Phuong received Lao PDR National Assembly Budget and Finance Committee Chairman Bouasy Lorvansay and his delegation on January 14.
Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh told the Lao delegation about socio- economic development in Dong Nai over the past years. He also reviewed the close and special relationship and solidarity between the two countries during the past decades and expressed the hope to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Lao PDR National Assembly Budget and Finance Committee Chairman Bouasy Lorvansay expressed his hearty thanks to the host for warm reception that the provincial leaders had accorded to him and the delegation. He highly appreciated significant socio-economic achievements over past 15 years recorded by Dong Nai provincial party committee and people. He said that the Lao economy has witnessed fairly rapid rates of growth in recent years. The growth of Laos GDP averaged 6.3 percent per annum. The state of Lao PDR faced a massive budget deficit. Nature has gifted Lao PDR with several natural resources. Of them, the most importance and abundant is the water resource, which has great potentials of generation of hydro-electricity. Six Vietnamese construction giants have set up a joint stock company with total chartered capital of VND1.08 trillion ($69.7 million) to pave the way for the construction of a series of hydroelectricity plants in Laos between now to 2010. The proposed plants include the 340-megawatt Sepian Senamnoi, the 300-megawatt Xekaman 1, the 55-megawatt Xekaman 4, the 310-megawatt Sekong 4 and the 200-megawatt Sekong 5, would be built in
