Gov't issues Decree guiding implementation of new law on foreigners' entry

The Government has issued Decree No. 75/2020/ND-CP on detailed implementation of a number of articles of the newly-amended Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam.
 
 

The Government has issued Decree No. 75/2020/ND-CP on detailed implementation of a number of articles of the newly-amended Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam.

The Decree specifies foreigners’ entry into border economic zones and coastal economic zones as stipulated in clause 3, Article 12 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam and clause 7, Article 1 of the newly-amended Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam.

Under the new law passed by the National Assembly last year, Viet Nam grants visa exemption of up to 30 days to foreigners who entering border economic zones and coastal economic zones. These zones need to have an international airport, defined geographical boundaries and be separate from the mainland.

Should foreigners expect to travel beyond the above zones, they shall have to get visa in accordance with Article 19 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam.

The Decree took effect since July 1, 2020./.
