The Long Thanh International Airport project is currently facing a shortfall of about 760,000 cubic meters of construction stone. To address this issue, the Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Environment has announced three key measures to ensure a sufficient supply for ongoing construction.

According to Tran Trong Toan, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Long Thanh Airport project is currently short of about 760,000 cubic meters of various types of construction stone, with nearly 460,000 cubic meters having no confirmed supply source. Meanwhile, the remainder has identified suppliers but cannot yet be mined due to various constraints.

In 2025, the project is expected to require around 4.9 million cubic meters of construction stone. To date, contractors have signed supply agreements totaling 3.7 million cubic meters, meeting about 75 percent of demand. However, only 60 percent of that contracted volume has been delivered to the construction site. The shortage is mainly attributed to some companies either not completing the legal procedures for mining or being unable to produce stone that meets the required specifications and quality standards.

To address the shortfall, the Department has outlined these three solutions:

First, reallocation of Unsourced Material: Approximately 195,000 m³ of unsourced stone will be redirected from Bien Hoa Construction and Building Materials Production Joint Stock Company's mines to the Long Thanh Airport project.

Second, following the government's issuance of a resolution introducing special mechanisms under the 2024 Law on Geology and Minerals, Bien Hoa Construction and Building Materials Production Joint Stock Company will increase output at the Tan Cang 1 mine to supply an additional 300,000 cubic meters of stone in 2025. At the same time, Truong Truong Phat JP Investment, Construction, Trading, Services, and Import-Export Joint Stock Company will also apply this mechanism at the Thien Tan 9 mine to extract an additional 250,000 cubic meters of stone.

Third, the Binh Thach Cooperative will support the project by supplying about 69,000 m³ of stone from the Thanh Phu 3 mine.
