Speaking at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the Government leader said the pandemic has been gradually put under control.
However, a few localities have failed to make noted progress in the combat, and the situation remains complicated in Ho Chi Minh City, said Chinh, who is also head of the committee.
Affirming that measures undertaken so far are appropriate and effective, he asked ministries, agencies and localities to continue following the set major orientations and measures in the time ahead.
The PM stressed that instruction should go in tandem with inspection and supervision, and reiterated the principles that health care plays the central role; economy serves as the foundation; data, science and technology are the key; political and social stability is essential; and vaccines, treatment drugs and public awareness are the prerequisites.
Chinh ordered accelerating the mass vaccination safely and efficiently, and pushing ahead with the transfer of production technology for COVID-19 vaccines, treatment drugs and other medical supplies.
He required continued support to HCM City and its adjacent localities like Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An, and intensified inspection and supervision over pandemic prevention and control work in localities, especially medical services and social welfare.
Ministries and agencies need to step up their coordination to find measures for safe and flexible adaptation to the new situation while effectively containing the pandemic, step-by step easing social distancing restrictions and restoring production and business, and rolling out supportive policies in a timely, effective and transparent manner.
At the same time, greater efforts are needed to fight negative phenomena and group interests, and strictly handling fake news and misinformation, the PM said.
