This is the first time three consecutive days have seen no new infection cases detected in Vietnam, while 30 coronavirus patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospital.
At present, 67 COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment at 11 health facilities across the countries, including 29 in Hanoi, 10 in Ninh Binh, and five in Ho Chi Minh City.
All of the patients are in stable health condition. More than 10 of them have tested negative for the deadly virus.
Ha Loi village in the capital city of Hanoi remains the country’s coronavirus hotspot with 13 cases confirmed. Yet, no new cases have been recorded in the village since April 16.
The capital on April 18 began conducting sample testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease at several wholesale markets, and all tests first showed traders and porters were virus free.
The northern mountain province of Ha Giang that shares a border with China has confirmed the first infection case, making it fall into a group of localities with risk. More than 100 local residents who had contact with the patient tested negative for the virus on April 18.
