Vietnam has so far reported two cases related to Zika virus. Zika is mainly transmitted through the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which also carries dengue fever. Currently there is no vaccine or specific medicine to treat Zika and dengue fever.
Presently, the province is taking measures to constrain the growth of mosquitoes in a bid prevent the spread of dengue fever as well as Zika in the community.
Accordingly, locals are advised to protect themselves and their families using mosquito repellent, and securely cover all containers of water to prevent mosquitoes from entering them and laying eggs.
