(ĐN)- A large-scale vaccination campaign against measles and rubella for children aged between 1 and 14 was launched in Dong Nai on October 10.
According to Director Cao Trong Nguong of Dong Nai Preventive Medicine Centre, more than 213,000 children in the province between the ages of 1 and 6 will be vaccinated against measles and rubella in the first phase from Oct 10-25.
The three-phase campaign is expected to benefit about 600,000 children in the locality. Accordingly, the second phase will run from November 17-30 targeting primary school students, while the third round for junior high school students will take place between January 15-30, 2015.
To make the campaign effective, Dong Nai province has recently held conferences and training courses to raise public awareness and provide necessary skills for medical staff.
With the aim to bring the rate of local children of this age group receiving rubella vaccines to 100 percent, Thong Nhat district’s health sector also planned to carry out the campaign at 30 immunisation stations in the communes and kindergartens.
It’s estimated that as many as 15,000 children in the district will receive measles-rubella shots from Oct 10-25.
