As Vietnam’s seventh city, Dong Nai now enters a broader development space, striving to become a model of dynamic and modern development as well as a key growth pole of the Southeastern region and the country.
Speaking at the ceremony announcing the National Assembly’s Resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai City and the conferment of the First-Class Labor Order on May 18, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam emphasized: “The Central Government will continue to provide leadership and direction, while studying and refining appropriate mechanisms and policies so that Dong Nai can maximize its potential and advantages and make even greater contributions to the region and the nation.” At the same time, he underscored that “the decisive factor remains the proactiveness, creativity, self-reliance and resilience of the city’s Party organization, authorities, business community and people.”
That spirit of initiative, creativity and self-reliance was quickly translated into concrete and urgent decisions in the first days following Dong Nai’s elevation to city status. The Executive Committee of the Dong Nai City Party Organization (first tenure) recently issued Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU launching a special 500-day-and-night emulation campaign themed “Unity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough for a civilized and modern Dong Nai,” while continuing to sustain and improve implementation quality through 2030.
More than a broad political campaign, it constitutes a mandatory action program for the entire political system, with clearly defined goals across six key areas: discipline and administrative order; administrative reform; digital transformation and governance; cadre development; socio-economic growth; and the satisfaction of residents and businesses.
Viewed from a historical perspective, the enduring strength of Dong Nai City today lies not only in its rich traditions but also in its ability to renew itself — in its resilient, dynamic and innovative spirit, and in the courage to think boldly, act decisively and take responsibility for the people’s interests. As Dong Nai enters a new stage of development, its new growth model can no longer depend mainly on resource exploitation and expansion-driven development. Instead, it must shift decisively toward science and technology, the knowledge economy, the digital economy and the green economy, built upon the foundations of industry, logistics networks and strategic multimodal transport infrastructure.
Against that backdrop, the special emulation movement is closely tied to the goal of achieving rapid and sustainable socio-economic development. Outcomes such as double-digit economic growth, effective public investment disbursement, investment attraction, improvements in the business environment, infrastructure development, job creation, and higher incomes and living standards will serve as key criteria for evaluating the performance of each level, sector and locality.
Pride in rich traditions only carries real meaning when accompanied by a sense of responsibility. Likewise, aspirations for contribution become meaningful only when transformed into a driving force for breakthrough development.
For that reason, every official, civil servant, soldier, enterprise and resident of Dong Nai City can channel that pride and aspiration into tangible projects, products and actions, thereby contributing to a more civilized, modern and prosperous hometown.
Thus, after 500 days and nights of effort and dedication, looking back on the journey, Dong Nai will have every reason to take pride in its spirit of unity, innovation, breakthrough and creativity, proud of having contributed, in ways great or small, to building a more civilized, modern and prosperous Dong Nai, and to helping the brand of Dong Nai City continue to grow and shine.
