Dong Nai City’s 2026 International Open Volleyball Tournament kicks off

On the evening of September 17, at the City Sports Training and Competition Center Gymnasium (Facility 1, Tan Trieu Ward), the Dong Nai City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Dong Nai City International Open Volleyball Tournament.

Attending the ceremony were Dong Nai City leaders, including Vu Hong Van, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Dong Nai City Party Committee, Head of the Dong Nai Delegation of National Assembly (NA) Deputies; and Tran Trung Nhan, Member of the Dong Nai City Party Committee’s Standing Board and Chairman of its Inspection Commission.

The ceremony was also attended by Aing Serey Piseth, Secretary General of the Cambodian Volleyball Federation; Lieutenant General Mai Hoang, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee’s Standing Board, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security Department; leaders of departments and agencies; coaches and athletes from the four participating teams; referees; and a large turnout of volleyball fans.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Khac Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and head of the tournament organizing board, said the 2026 Dong Nai City International Open Volleyball Tournament is being held to provide domestic and international volleyball teams with an opportunity to exchange, compete, share experience and improve their professional and technical skills. The event also aims to strengthen solidarity and friendship among localities, agencies and sports clubs at home and abroad. At the same time, the tournament offers Dong Nai City an opportunity to introduce to domestic and international friends the image of a young, dynamic, modern, friendly and integrated city in a new space, with new opportunities as it moves toward a new era.

The tournament runs from September 17 to 20, featuring four teams: Ho Chi Minh City Public Security, Ho Chi Minh City, Cambodia’s Visakha and hosts Dong Nai City. The four teams will play a single round-robin, with points determining the teams advancing to the final and third-place playoff. The final is scheduled for the evening of September 20.

Following the opening ceremony, hosts Dong Nai City took on Ho Chi Minh City. The match also marked the home debut of Cuban foreign player Daniel Duran Gonzalez for Dong Nai City.

Earlier, Ho Chi Minh City Public Security faced Cambodia’s Visakha. Ho Chi Minh City Public Security won 3–1 against the Cambodian representatives.

The Dong Nai City International Open Volleyball Tournament also provides members of the Dong Nai City men’s volleyball team with an opportunity to compete against strong opponents, improve their technical skills and gain valuable match experience in preparation for the final round of the 2026 National A-League Volleyball Championship.
