Dong Nai City finswimmers win seven medals at 2026 Asian Junior Finswimming Championships

Dong Nai City athletes won three gold, three silver and one bronze medal, contributing to Vietnam’s junior finswimming team finishing first overall at the 2026 Asian Junior Finswimming Championships.

The 2026 Asian Junior Finswimming Championships took place from September 15 to 21 in China, bringing together athletes from nine countries and territories to compete in men’s and women’s individual events and relays.

Vietnam’s junior finswimming team comprised 30 members, including 22 athletes from localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Dong Nai and Thanh Hoa. Dong Nai City contributed three members, including one coach and two athletes. The tournament provided an opportunity for young athletes to gain international competitive experience while helping affirm the position of Vietnamese finswimming in the continental arena.

Vietnam’s junior finswimming team finished the championships with an impressive 79 medals, including 33 gold, 31 silver and 15 bronze, to rank first overall. China finished second with 32 gold, 19 silver and 11 bronze medals, while Thailand placed third with four silver and 17 bronze medals. The other teams won no gold medals.

Notably, both Dong Nai City athletes on the Vietnamese junior diving team performed strongly and won gold medals, contributing three gold, three silver and one bronze medal to Vietnam’s overall tally. Le Thi Thanh Tuyen won gold in the women’s 50m bi-fins event and silver in the women’s 100m bi-fins event for the 16-17 age group. Pham Thanh Nam won gold in the men’s 100m bi-fins event and silver in the men’s 4x200m surface relay and the men’s 50m bi-fins event for the 16-17 age group.

In addition, Pham Thanh Nam and Le Thi Thanh Tuyen and their teammates won gold in the mixed 4x100m bi-fins relay and silver in the mixed 4x100m surface relay.
