Dong Nai cycling team finishes runner-up overall for the first time at 2026 National Youth Road and Mountain Bike Championships

Dong Nai's cycling team claimed a double gold medal on the final day of competition to finish second overall at the 31st National Youth Road and Mountain Bike Championships 2026.

The championships concluded on July 19 after 11 days of competition in Phu Tho Province, featuring the final men's individual and team road race events over a distance of 106.4 kilometers in the U16, U17–18, and U23 age categories.

In the U23 individual road race, Tran Trong Phuc of Dong Nai produced a strong finishing sprint to edge pre-race favorite Pham Le Xuan Loc of the Army team, securing the gold medal. His victory also propelled Dong Nai to the U23 men's team road race title, while Vinh Long and the Army claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

The two gold medals on the final day brought Dong Nai's total medal haul to 24 medals, including 8 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze, earning the team second place overall in the road cycling competition. It is the first time Dong Nai has achieved this milestone at the national youth championships.

Vinh Long topped the road cycling standings with 9 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze medals, while Thanh Hoa finished third with 8 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Ho Chi Minh City collected the highest total number of medals, 34 (7 gold, 16 silver, and 11 bronze), to place fourth overall.

In the mountain bike competition, Hanoi finished first, while Thanh Hoa claimed the overall team title across both the road cycling and mountain biking disciplines.
