Athletes from Dong Nai delivered an impressive performance by winning three gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals, contributing to Vietnam’s overall first-place finish at the 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championships.

The 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championships concluded on the evening of May 23 at the Bac Ninh Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium after the final matches ended.
As the host, Vietnam’s judo team fielded a strong squad of more than 170 athletes across all categories in both the championship and youth championship systems, including kata and combat events, with athletes from Dong Nai city among them.

At the close of the tournament, the Vietnamese judo team finished atop the medal standings with an impressive haul of 33 gold medals, 35 silver medals and 51 bronze medals. Vietnam’s youth judo team also reaffirmed its leading position in the region across the youth age groups, winning 12 of the tournament’s 16 gold medals.
As part of the Vietnamese judo team’s success at the Southeast Asian tournament, Dong Nai athletes contributed three gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals to the team’s overall tally. Of the three gold medals, Dong Nai athletes won two in kata events: Phan Minh Hanh, together with Tran Quoc Cuong, in Kodokan Goshin Jutsu, and Tran Le Phuong Nga, together with Nguyen Bao Ngoc, in Ju No Kata. The remaining gold medal came from Chu Duc Dat in the men’s 66kg combat event.

Behind the Vietnam team in the medal standings was Indonesia, with an overall tally of 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. Thailand ranked third with two gold medals, one silver medal and four bronze medals.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championships took place from May 20 to 23 in Bac Ninh Province, bringing together 425 coaches and athletes from seven countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Laos. Competitors contested both senior and youth divisions in combat and kata events.
