Finswimmers from the Dong Nai team, competing as part of the Vietnam national squad, impressively secured 8 gold medals (GMs), including 4 GMs at the Southeast Asian Finswimming Championships and 4 GMs at the Asian Youth Finswimming Championships (Southeast Asia region).

At the 2025 Southeast Asian Finswimming Championships and the Asian Youth Finswimming Championships for the Southeast Asia region held in Indonesia, the national finswimming team consisted of 62 members, including 1 team leader, 1 head coach, 15 coaches, and 45 athletes, competing in all men’s, women’s, and relay events. Dong Nai contributed 6 members: coaches Nguyen Thien Chon and Tran Van Quy, along with 4 athletes: Vu Dang Nhat Nam, Nguyen Le Truyen Dat, Le Thi Thanh Tuyen, and Tran Pham Tu Minh.

Notably, all four Dong Nai athletes delivered outstanding performances, capturing a total of 8 gold medals across the two tournaments, contributing significantly to the Vietnamese national team’s achievement of finishing first in the overall rankings of the senior division, reaffirming its No. 1 position in Southeast Asia in finswimming with 31 gold, 22 silver, and 4 bronze medals. The youth team also topped the table with 24 gold, 15 silver, and 13 bronze medals.

At the Southeast Asian Finswimming Championships, Dong Nai athlete Vu Dang Nhat Nam excelled, contributing 4 gold medals to the team. Nam won two individual gold medals in the men’s 200m bi-fins (BF) and 400m bi-fins events, breaking the Southeast Asian record in the men’s 400m BF event, and also earned a silver medal in the men’s 100m BF, in which he tied the Southeast Asian record alongside another Vietnamese athlete.
In addition, Nam and his teammates won two more gold medals in relay events (mixed 4x100m bi-fin and 4x100m surface relay). Meanwhile, Nguyen Le Truyen Dat and Nam claimed gold in the 4x100m BF mixed relay, along with a silver in the men’s 400m BF and a bronze in the men’s 200m BF.

Meanwhile, two young athletes from Dong Nai, Le Thi Thanh Tuyen and Tran Pham Tu Minh, delivered outstanding performances at the Asian Youth Finswimming Championships for the Southeast Asia region. Thanh Tuyen won three gold medals (women’s 50m BF, women’s 200m BF, 4x100m mixed BF relay) and two silver medals (women’s 100m BF, 4x100m surface relay), while Tran Pham Tu Minh claimed a gold medal in the women’s 4x50m surface relay.
