Along with localities across the country, on the morning of October 11 (the 20th day of the 8th lunar month), amid the resounding beat of ceremonial drums and the solemn melodies of the traditional van singing (sung literature), the authorities and people of Xuan Hoa commune (Dong Nai province) solemnly held a memorial ceremony marking the 725th anniversary of the passing of Saint Tran Hung Dao (1300-2025) - the brilliant Grand Prince and commander-in-chief, a revered national hero who led the Tran Dynasty's military and citizens to achieve three great victories over the Mongol-Yuan invaders, preserving the sovereignty of Dai Viet.

According to local elders, the Temple of Saint Tran Hung Dao in Xuan Hoa was initially constructed in the 1960s as a symbol of patriotic spirit and indomitable will. Over time, the temple has endured many upheavals, at one point, the temple was damaged by war and had to be relocated several times. After the liberation and reunification of the country in 1975, the people of Xuan Hoa united to restore and rebuild the temple at its current site in Xuan Hoa Hamlet 3, where it now stands in solemn majesty. The temple is not only a sacred spiritual space but also a symbol of pride and gratitude cherished by generations of Xuan Hoa residents.

Each year, on the 20th day of the 8th lunar month, the people of Xuan Hoa commune organize a full ceremonial tribute to Tran Hung Dao, including the procession of the saint's spirit, incense offerings, floral tributes, chau van singing, and traditional dances to honor the revered figure.

The festival atmosphere, a blend of solemnity and communal joy, reflects the unique cultural identity of this peaceful land. It also serves as an occasion to educate younger generations the values of patriotism and national pride. Each fragrant incense stick and humble prayer offered today represents the community’s heartfelt gratitude to Tran Hung Dao, the immortal hero of Vietnamese history.

The 725th death anniversary commemoration of Grand Lord Tran Hung Dao in Xuan Hoa commune is not merely a cultural or religious event; but also a testament to the enduring spirit of the Vietnamese tradition of "when drinking water, remember its source." Despite the passage of time and the trials of history, the people's reverence for Saint Tran continues to burn brightly, like an eternal sacred flame.
