Unlocking resources for the development of Dong Nai’s culture

On the afternoon of August 25, the Dong Nai province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCST) held a gathering to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Culture Sector (August 28, 1945 –2025).

Attending the event were Provincial Party Committee members Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chair of the Dong Nai People's Committee; Le Thi Thai, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee; Le Thi Thanh Loan, Vice Chair of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai Province and Chair of the Dong Nai Women's Union; Le Thi Ngoc Loan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; along with current and former leaders, officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the gathering, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thi Ngoc Loan reflected on the tradition of development and growth of the sector. In Dong Nai, beginning with the establishment of the Department of Culture and Information in January 1976, and following multiple mergers and restructurings, the Dong Nai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was officially established in 2008, assuming the function of state management across various sectors and fields.

Over the past 80 years, the Culture, Sports, and Tourism sector has consistently upheld its role on the cultural and ideological front, striving to fulfill its assigned tasks. It has not only effectively promoted major provincial and national events but also vigorously advanced movements such as All People Unite to Build Cultural Life and Good People, Good Deeds, spreading humanistic values. The fields of sports, tourism, journalism and publishing, family affairs, and others have continued to grow. Notably, since the provincial merger and the implementation of the two-tier local government model, the (new) Dong Nai province has acquired a broader and more diverse identity, enriching the cultural fabric of the southern region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang acknowledged and commended the achievements of the provincial Culture, Sports, and Tourism sector in recent years. She emphasized that, entering a new stage of development, the sector must improve mechanisms, policies, and proposals to mobilize resources for cultural development. At the same time, it should continue to restructure and streamline its organizational apparatus for greater efficiency; enhance the preservation and promotion of heritage values; and regard investment in culture as investment in people and sustainable development. In addition, tourism should be developed into a spearhead economic sector, with proactive international integration and cooperation to promote Dong Nai's image to the region and the world.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in cultural and sports activities. At the same time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism offered gifts of gratitude to former leaders of the sector from different periods.
