The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, Secretary of Ha Noi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai, representatives from ministries and sectors, and thousands of athletes, coaches, and sport officials nationwide.
The event lasted 100 minutes and was divided into two parts of ritual and ceremony, attracting the participation of 3,000 people representing for 65 sports delegations nationwide.
The 8th National Games will last from November 16 to December 10, featuring 473 disciplines in 36 sports.
As of November 25, Host Ha Noi has been leading the medal tally with 30 gold, 23 silver and 19 bronze medals, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 19 gold, 23 silver and 14 bronze medals, Binh Duong with 8 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals, and Dong Nai with 7 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronze medals.
