(ĐN) - On November 25, Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association in Dong Nai held Thai traditional Loy Krathong festival.
The event was attended by Thai Consul General in HCM City Ureerat Ratanaprukse, Chairwoman of Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations Bui Ngoc Thanh and representatives of Thai enterprises operating in the province.
Speaking at the festival, Ms Ureerat Ratanaprukse thanked the province for organizing the event, thus enhancing cultural exchanges and promoting friendship between the two sides.
Loy Krathong is observed on the night of December 15 according to Thai calendar. It is considered the most romantic flower garlands and coloured lanterns festival in Thailand and contains a lot of mythological factors.
In Thai language, “Loy” means “float” and “Krathong” means “flower garlands”. The festival is an occasion for Thai people to express their gratitude to the goddess of water Phra Mae Kongka.
