Earlier, in the 28th minute, Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung made a kick from a distance of 20m. However, the ball was easily pushed out by goalkeeper Tsai Ming-jung of Taiwan. The first half closed with no goal scored.
Wang Hsiang-huei of Taiwan played a far shot in the 48th minute. The ball is quite stretch but right into the position of custodian Khong Thi Hang.
During first minutes of the second half, despite efforts to put pressure on Vietnam, Taiwan failed to create any significant situation. The second half also ended without goal.
In the 30 minutes of extra time, both sides failed to score a goal, and Vietnam had to settle the match through the penalty shootout.
In the ASIAD 2018 qualifying round, the Vietnamese girls beat Thailand 3-2 but lost 0-7 to Japan, ranking second in Group C and winning a ticket to the quarterfinals.
