5th Ong Pagoda Festival opens

(ĐN)- The 5th Ong Pagoda Festival was opened on Tuesday with the attendance of Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Hoa Hiep of Dong Nai provincial People's Committee along with a large number of visitors.

 

(ĐN)- The 5th Ong Pagoda Festival was opened on Tuesday with the attendance of Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Hoa Hiep of Dong Nai provincial People's Committee along with a large number of visitors.

During three-day event, many activities will be held, such as unicorn-lion-dragon dance, traditional music performance, calligraphy performance, etc.

The festival aims to contemplate and worship, recall ancestors, and pray for safety and prosperity for the country and people.

Also at the opening ceremony, the executive board of That Phu Co Mieu received certificate of merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for its outstanding performance in managing, restoration the pagoda as well as organizing festival in solemn, safety and cultural manners.

Ong Pagoda is located at Hiep Hoa commune, Bien Hoa city. It was built in 1684 by the Chinese Community in Cu Lao Pho (Pho isle). At first, it was named Quan De Pagoda, and later renamed That Phu Co Temple (or Ong Pagoda). In 2001, Ong Pagoda was listed as national cultural heritage.
