The national men’s football team of Vietnam has advanced to 144th place in the FIFA world rankings this April, according to the Vietnam Football Federation.
The improvement after months of staying at 146th position is attributable to the team’s convincing victory (4 – 1) over Taiwan at the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying round, the federation said.
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam follows the Philippines at 116th position globally and Thailand in 119th position.
It ranks 23rd in Asia, with Iran (42nd in global rankings) taking the lead.
The world’s best team this month is Argentina, followed by Belgium, Chile and Colombia.
