Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh narrowly defeated underdogs Tan Yuhan from Belgium in his first match of the London 2012 Olympics qualifying round on July 30.
With two or three points behind Minh at the beginning of the first set, the Belgian opponent fought hard to even the scoring and make it 21-17.
Minh regained his domination in the second set, and easily beat Yuhan 21-14. He then quickly finished 21-10 in the last set.
Minh will face India’s Kashyap Parupalli in his next match of Group D. He can only get a ticket to play in the second round by smashing the Indian rival.
