Dong Nai celebrates Bunpimay Festival

(ĐN)- On April 9, forty-five Lao students studying at universities in Dong Nai province gathered at Buu Long Tourism Area to celebrate their traditional New Year Bunpimay festival.

(ĐN)- On April 9, forty-five Lao students studying at universities in Dong Nai province gathered at Buu Long Tourism Area to celebrate their traditional New Year Bunpimay festival organized by Dong Nai Department of Propaganda and Training (DoPT).

Secretary of Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Head of DoPT Huynh Van Toi and Vice Chairman of People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri attended the festival.

Speaking at the festival, Toi expressed his desire that the fine friendship and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Laos, especially Laos’ localities and Dong Nai, will develop positively, deeply and broadly on a solid foundation.

Ancient festivities of throwing water and binding threads

At the event, ancient festivities such as throwing water, eating traditional food and binding threads on each other’s wrists have made homesick young people closer to each other and warm in their hearts.

Keoboaulay Phoneananh, a Lao student from University of Technical Education, confided that she was unable to return home during this New Year festival but the celebration held by the province have made her  feel happy and like she was at home.

Traditionally, the Bunpimay festival is celebrated between April 13 and 15 each year and believed to bring luck, freshness, prosperity, happiness, and purity to humans’ life.
