Construction accelerates on Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway

Construction of the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway is being accelerated as most of the site clearance area has been handed over to contractors.

Racing to make up for delays

Lizen Joint Stock Company is responsible for constructing more than 30km of the final section of the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway through Dinh Quan, Phu Hoa and Phu Lam communes. The contractor is currently operating eight construction teams on sections where the site has been handed over. In the section passing through Dinh Quan, workers are building access roads, removing organic soil and preparing the roadbed. Several kilometers of access roads and frontage roads have been completed to facilitate the transport of equipment, machinery and construction materials.

In In the section traversing Phu Hoa Commune, the access road has been completed, while work is underway on soil treatment, bridges and other structures along the route.

Currently, at the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway project site, Lizen Joint Stock Company is mobilizing hundreds of officials, engineers, workers and other personnel for construction. More than 130 specialized pieces of equipment have also been deployed to the site to support construction activities. Construction teams are being flexibly adjusted based on site conditions and weather, with priority given to work items that can be carried out during the rainy season.

The Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway is the first section of the approximately 60km-long Dau Giay–Lien Khuong Expressway. The project is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with a designed speed of 100km/h and four lanes. It will feature an integrated electronic toll collection system, an operations center, lighting and an intelligent transportation system (ITS).

Ninh The Thuong, Site Commander of Lizen Joint Stock Company, said that once sufficient site clearance was handed over to allow construction to proceed, the contractor mobilized substantial resources for the project. Construction work began immediately in the areas where the site was available. “We have also planned to work overtime and night shifts to make up for delays. At the same time, we are ready to mobilize additional resources as more of the site is handed over for construction. As it is currently the rainy season, we are proactively prioritizing work items that are less affected by weather conditions. We are also adjusting our plans for ground treatment, material transportation and earth filling to suit actual site conditions,” Thuong said.

At the beginning of the route, Son Hai Group Co., Ltd. is also carrying out work including beam casting, earthworks, construction of temporary roads, culverts, pedestrian underpasses and bored piles for the La Nga Bridge. Hundreds of workers and construction machines and equipment have been mobilized on the sections where the site has been handed over. More than 20km of temporary roads have been completed.

Construction of the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway began in August 2025. However, progress fell behind schedule during the initial period after groundbreaking due to delays in handing over the site to contractors. In recent months, as more of the site has been handed over, contractors have accelerated construction to make up for the earlier delays.

Completing site handover soon

According to Lizen Joint Stock Company, the section under its construction is approximately 32km long, of which around 19km of the construction site has so far been handed over. However, because the handed-over sections are not yet continuous, the contractor cannot carry out construction simultaneously along the entire route and must work in separate areas as they become available.

To facilitate construction of the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway, Dong Nai City is required to acquire more than 390 hectares of land and clear the site across eight communes and wards. To date, the city’s authorities have handed over more than 90% of the project’s required site area to construction units.

Chu Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai City Land Fund Development Center, said the remaining land is located partly in the area passing through the Tan Phu Protection Forest Management Board and partly in Phu Lam Commune.

Pham Thanh Hai, Chairman of the Phu Lam Commune People's Committee, said that as of August 5, more than 40 hectares of land for the expressway project in the commune had been handed over, representing nearly 75% of the total required area. For the remaining nearly 14 hectares, affected households have agreed to hand over the land once compensation and support payments are received. Phu Lam authorities are currently stepping up efforts to encourage residents to hand over the remaining land for construction.

Dong Nai City has set a target of completing the handover of the entire site for the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway project in August 2026.
