Businesses step up digital transformation
In recent times, enterprises throughout Dong Nai have increasingly invested in science and technology and digital transformation to improve labor productivity and business efficiency, contributing to the city's expansion of digital economy.
Nguyen Quoc Minh, Director of Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket, said the supermarket is promoting the integration of digital payment methods, shopping applications, and online services to cultivate sustainable digital consumer habits. "The diversification of digital payment options not only meets the varying needs of customers but also helps build a comprehensive digital retail ecosystem," Minh said, adding that the supermarket currently operates more than 40 point-of-sale (POS) machines capable of handling high transaction volumes securely and efficiently.
Similarly, Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, Director of An Phu Truong Thinh Co., Ltd., said the company has accelerated digital transformation in its passenger transport services. In addition to modernizing its operational systems, the company has expanded digital banking payment solutions and introduced multiple booking and payment channels through its website and online ticketing platforms to improve customer experience.
Many businesses in Dong Nai have also begun incorporating AI and advanced technologies into production and business management to automate administrative processes and optimize production and supply chains.
Bi Long Hong Phuc, an IT specialist at Chinh Nam Design Construction JSC in Tran Bien Ward, said the company is utilizing AI tools such as Agentic AI, Claude Co-work, and ChatGPT Work to streamline internal operations, including electronic invoice processing, image processing, and corporate content creation. "The adoption of AI has significantly improved productivity and enhanced the efficiency of many operational and management processes," Phuc said.
For the Food and Beverage (F&B) service industry, alongside promoting digital payment channels and driving the development of ordering applications on e-commerce platforms and social networks, many stores have also boosted digital services, utilizing robots to serve customers and bring consumers a range of novel experiences.
Thao Linh, a resident of Tam Hiep Ward, said she has noticed more restaurants deploying robots to deliver food and beverages while providing interactive digital menu displays. "These service robots offer customers an entirely new dining experience," she said.
E-commerce continues to expand
Over the past time, Dong Nai's e-commerce market has continued to grow rapidly as the city implements a series of initiatives to promote the digital economy.
Nguyen Tan Phong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) and Head of its Southern Representative Office, said several major e-commerce trends are shaping the market in 2026. The first is shoppertainment, where consumers watch videos, listen to music, or follow online trends before purchasing products directly within the same digital content. "Shopping no longer begins with a specific purchasing need," Phong said. He added that AI is playing an increasingly important role, extending beyond product recommendations and automated customer service to include real-time livestream monitoring and the rapid detection and removal of policy-violating content.
According to the Vietnam E-commerce Index (EBI) Report 2026 released by VECOM, Dong Nai scored nearly 17.4 points, ranking sixth nationwide. The city also ranked sixth nationally in the business-to-consumer (B2C) transaction index, reflecting strong consumer participation in online shopping and businesses' successful adoption of digital retail channels.
To ensure sustainable e-commerce growth, experts recommend that Dong Nai prioritize investment in green logistics and smart warehousing, leveraging Long Thanh International Airport and the city's industrial parks as gateways for digital exports. The city is also encouraged to help small businesses and household enterprises adopt omnichannel sales while expanding training programs and financial support for digital commerce.
Tran Duong Hung, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade, said the department will continue implementing measures to help local enterprises and One Commune One Product (OCOP) producers expand their presence on e-commerce platforms. The department will focus on improving digital infrastructure and workforce capacity while developing logistics networks. It will also coordinate with relevant agencies to review planning and remove obstacles affecting investments in warehouses, freight consolidation centers, and transportation infrastructure to lower logistics costs and optimize supply chains. In addition, Dong Nai plans to strengthen supply chain connectivity and work closely with logistics providers to develop affordable delivery service packages suitable for the budgets of cooperatives and household businesses.
