Tan Phu officially became a ward on April 30, 2026, marking an important transition from a rural to an urban administrative model. The transformation is expected to strengthen local capacity in socio-economic development, urban management, administrative reform, and digital transformation.
Leveraging local potential and competitive advantages
Tan Phu Ward was established on the basis of the unchanged natural area and population of the former Tan Phu Commune, covering nearly 106 square kilometers and a population exceeding 77,000. The ward borders the communes of Nam Cat Tien, Phu Hoa, Phu Lam, Phu Vinh, and Ta Lai, and Lam Dong Province.
In recent years, the local investment and business environment has steadily improved. Banking services and businesses have operated efficiently, while retail networks and traditional markets have continued expanding. Transportation services increasingly meet residents’ travel and logistics demands. The ward currently hosts Tan Phu Industrial Park, covering 54 hectares with an occupancy rate of 94%. Authorities are continuing plans for a second-phase expansion covering approximately 246 hectares to attract additional investment.
At the same time, Tan Phu possesses extensive agricultural land suitable for livestock farming, aquaculture, and high-value fruit cultivation, including durian, jackfruit, pomelo, and rambutan. The ward currently has one passenger bus station, two traditional markets, one industrial park, and one major tourism area operating effectively. In particular, National Highway 20 runs through the ward for approximately 10 kilometers, providing significant advantages for trade connectivity and supporting industrial, commercial, and service-sector development.
Nguyen Danh Thinh, Director of Phuong Lam Trading and Service Cooperative, the operator of Tan Phu Market, said the ward upgrade creates major opportunities for future commercial and service-sector expansion. “At the same time, it creates momentum for traditional markets to improve service quality and meet increasingly sophisticated consumer demand, moving toward more modern and civilized operations,” he said.
Similarly, Pham Chau An, Deputy General Director of Suoi Mo Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company, the operator of Suoi Mo Park, said the locality has significant potential to develop tourism routes and destination networks, especially when the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway becomes operational. “With the new urban governance mechanism, local development momentum will become stronger. Infrastructure, especially transportation connectivity, will continue to receive greater systematic investment, creating new advantages and shortening travel times from central urban areas and the airport city to Tan Phu. Therefore, it will create conditions to attract tourists and develop local tourism, ” An said.
"I hope that in the coming time, the locality will continue to promote tourism promotion and advertising activities and programs to develop the potential in the area sustainably," he added.
The ward will strengthen the application of science, technology, and innovation, promote digital transformation and the development of high-quality human resources, preserve and promote cultural identity, and foster civilized, friendly, and compassionate qualities among Tan Phu Ward residents.

Focusing on sustainable urban development
The establishment of Tan Phu Ward is viewed as a strategic move aligned with Dong Nai City’s general development trajectory, aimed at improving governance efficiency, optimizing resources, and generating stronger momentum for socio-economic growth. In recent years, numerous infrastructure projects have been completed and put into operation, improving local infrastructure quality and enhancing the ward’s attractiveness to investors. Additionally, local planning, planning management, and construction orders have been emphasized and have shown positive results.
Tran Quang Tu, Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Tan Phu Ward Party Committee, and Chairman of the Tan Phu Ward People's Council, emphasized that amid a new development context, the Party Committee, the government, and the ward's people must demonstrate greater initiative, creativity, determination, and decisive action. According to him, the ward will focus on improving living standards, maintaining political security and social order, strengthening local defense capacity, enhancing environmental protection, and proactively adapting to climate change. “These efforts will contribute to building Tan Phu into a thriving ward that moves forward together with the country into a new era of development,” he said.
At the ceremony announcing the National Assembly Standing Committee's resolution on the establishment of Tan Phu Ward in late April 2026, Thai Bao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Organization Commission of the City Party Committee, stressed that the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Tan Phu Ward should prioritize effective operation of the political system, particularly urban governance and administrative leadership. He also highlighted the importance of accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation to build a more constructive, service-oriented government.
Alongside these efforts, the ward is expected to prioritize sustainable urban economic development by maximizing local advantages and attracting investment into commerce, services, urban infrastructure, and high-tech agriculture while ensuring environmental protection remains a core principle.
