According to Nguyen Huu Son, Deputy Director of the Bien Hoa branch of the Land Development Center, the unit has completed a preliminary estimate for compensation, support, and site clearance costs related to the project to extend the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line to the Dong Nai City Administrative Center and Long Thanh International Airport. The section passing through the former Bien Hoa City covers five wards: Bien Hoa, Tran Bien, Long Hung, Phuoc Tan, and Tam Phuoc.

According to the preliminary estimate, total funding for compensation, support, and resettlement is expected to exceed VND 1.2 trillion.

The section running through the five wards will span more than 18 kilometers and is planned to be 17 meters wide. The project is expected to affect 527 households, including 118 households requiring full relocation and resettlement.

The total land area proposed for compensation and support is estimated at approximately 161,000 square meters, comprising mainly agricultural and residential land. In addition, approximately 149,000 square meters of forestry land, organizational land, and defense land are not subject to compensation. Areas expected to see the largest number of affected households include Phuoc Tan, Long Hung, and Tam Phuoc wards.

For households required to relocate, resettlement is expected to be arranged at existing resettlement areas, primarily in Phuoc Tan and Tam Phuoc wards. Alongside compensation payments, residents will also receive support for temporary housing rental, livelihood stabilization, vocational transition, and relocation expenses.

A representative of the Bien Hoa branch of the Land Development Center noted that the current figures are only preliminary estimates serving the project preparation stage. After land inventory and detailed compensation plans are completed, costs for compensation, support, and resettlement will continue to be appraised and approved in accordance with regulations.

The metro extension project is expected to strengthen transport connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City, the inner wards of Dong Nai City, and Long Thanh International Airport, thereby contributing to regional socio-economic development.
