Meeting all criteria for ward status marks not only an important milestone in the locality’s development journey, but also opens up new opportunities and creates fresh momentum for Tan Khai to emerge as an industrial and service hub in the Northwestern area of Dong Nai City in the coming years.
Strong development potential and advantages
Under Dong Nai City’s urban expansion orientation, localities with strong connectivity are being viewed as new growth drivers. Tan Khai is considered one of those strategic areas thanks to its clear advantages in transportation, land resources and investment attraction potential.
Several key transport routes run through Tan Khai ward, including National Highway 13, Provincial Road 756C and Provincial Road 752B, helping facilitate connections with IPs and economic centers in the region. In particular, National Highway 13 passing through Tan Khai serves as a major artery linking Ho Chi Minh City with Hoa Lu International Border Gate.
Transport infrastructure has also received increasing investment, with many roads upgraded and expanded, thereby improving travel and goods transportation. As a result, manufacturing and business operations have become much more convenient for local residents and enterprises. These conditions are considered crucial for promoting services, trade and investment attraction.
Vu Hoang Xuan Binh, a resident of Tan Khai ward, said: “Over the past few years, roads have been improved significantly, making travel and trading activities much more convenient. Local residents hope infrastructure development will continue so that the locality can match the stature of a modern urban area.”
In addition, Tan Khai possesses a large natural area of more than 161 square kilometers, providing substantial room for long-term planning and development. The ward is capable of accommodating residential areas, IPs and production zones simultaneously, in line with urban development orientations. This is an advantage not every locality enjoys.
Tan Khai’s population has also increased rapidly in recent years, reaching more than 39,000 residents, while the urban population rate has hit 50.48%. Most residents are concentrated in the ward center and along major transport routes. Population growth has fueled rising demand for housing, services and trade, contributing to forming concentrated residential areas and gradually shaping an urban landscape.
Moreover, IPs operating in the locality have created jobs for many workers and accelerated the economic restructuring process toward industry and services. This has become a key factor driving urbanization in the ward.
Tan Khai ward covers more than 161 square kilometers and has a population of over 39,000 people, with an urbanization rate exceeding 50%. The locality currently has 12 educational institutions, including seven national-standard schools, while the healthcare system consists of a regional medical center, local health stations and private medical facilities. Transport, electricity and water infrastructure have been developed in a synchronized manner. With these foundations, Tan Khai is steadily meeting urban development criteria and contributing to the overall development of Dong Nai City.
Tran Thi Mai, a trader in the center of Tan Khai ward, shared: “More workers and laborers have come here to live and work, so business activities have become more stable than before. Services and trade have also grown considerably.”
As Dong Nai pursues a strategy of rapid and sustainable development with a target of double-digit economic growth, the development of Tan Khai ward is expected to help expand investment space, ease pressure on central urban areas and create new growth momentum for the entire city.
Completing infrastructure to create growth momentum
Alongside economic development, Tan Khai continues focusing on improving social and technical infrastructure to meet urban standards. The ward currently has 12 educational institutions, including seven public schools recognized as level-1 national-standard schools. Its healthcare system includes a regional medical center, health stations and private clinics. The locality is striving to raise health insurance coverage to 96% in 2026. Cultural and sports facilities are also gradually being developed to better serve residents’ needs.
From an economic perspective, the locality’s total production value in 2025 reached approximately VND3.088 trillion, with a growth rate of 12.8%. The economic structure has shifted positively, with industry, construction and trade-service sectors accounting for more than 71% of the economy. Average per capita income in 2025 exceeded VND86.4 million, while no households remained below the current poverty line. These indicators provide an important foundation for Tan Khai ward to continue contributing to urban expansion and socio-economic development in Dong Nai City.
Nguyen Viet Doi, Vice Chairman of the Tan Khai ward People’s Committee, said the locality would continue prioritizing urban planning, transport, electricity and water infrastructure development, while also calling for investment in industry, services and trade.
“Becoming a ward not only changes the urban landscape but also helps improve residents’ living standards. We will continue refining the criteria and operating the apparatus under the urban government model to better serve people and businesses,” he added.
In reality, with 323 enterprises and more than 1,600 household businesses currently operating in the locality, along with two existing industrial parks, Tan Khai II IP and Minh Hung - Sikico IP, Tan Khai ward is gradually forming a dynamic economic environment. Minh Hung - Sikico IP alone has attracted more than 50 projects with total investment capital exceeding US$1.5 billion, creating jobs for thousands of local workers.
Local residents also expect the ward’s upgraded administrative status to generate broader development opportunities. Nguyen Dinh Thuy, a resident of Tan Khai ward, expressed optimism: “Once infrastructure investment becomes more comprehensive and more businesses come here to invest and expand production, local residents will have more jobs and services will develop further. Living standards will certainly improve.”
With a stable economic foundation, steadily improving infrastructure and a clear development orientation, Tan Khai ward is considered to possess favorable conditions for breakthroughs in the coming period. Its transition to ward status represents not only an administrative change, but also a driving force for growth toward building a young, modern urban area marked with sustainable development.
