The project, with a total investment of nearly 40 billion VND, was funded by Dong Nai Power Company to meet increasing electricity demand in the Long Thanh area, especially in key industrial parks such as An Phuoc, Long Duc, Tam Phuoc, and Long Thanh.
The project includes installing a new 3rd transformer with a capacity of 63 MVA, along with synchronous equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, current transformers, surge arresters, medium-voltage switchgear systems, capacitor banks, and connection cable systems.
An Phuoc 110kV Substation was put into operation in January 2015, with the first transformer rated at 63 MVA, to serve the electricity demand of An Phuoc Industrial Park. In October 2015, Dong Nai Power Company continued installing the second transformer, increasing the station's capacity to 126 MVA to meet the load growth rate in the Long Thanh - Nhon Trach area.
According to Dong Nai Power Company, putting the third transformer into operation will contribute to improving the reliability of electricity supply, reducing the load on neighboring substations, meeting the N-1 reliability standard of the power system, and creating room for development for industrial parks, logistics, services, and urban areas in the context of many key projects, such as Long Thanh International Airport, being implemented.
