DT not only improves internal efficiency and service quality and customer experience, but, more importantly, creates a fundamental change in service quality, in line with modern consumption and management trends.

Pioneering and promoting the application of digital technology

Dong Nai has been making efforts to accelerate comprehensive DT. In particular, the province is focusing on developing digital economic activities, contributing to the local goal of achieving double-digit economic growth and thereby creating development momentum commensurate with Dong Nai’s stature as it becomes a centrally-run city. The development of the digital economy and the promotion of technology application in businesses help the locality advance socio-economic development, enhance competitiveness, and accelerate the process of DT, science and technology, and innovation.

Pham Van Trinh, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Science, Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology, said that to spur digital economic growth, Dong Nai is accelerating digital transformation in key sectors such as processing and manufacturing industries, logistics, finance, banking, trade, and services. One of the core solutions is to step up the application of science and technology in production and governance. The province encourages and supports enterprises in shifting to smart governance and production models based on digital technologies, applying artificial intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and Big Data to raise productivity, cut costs, and expand markets.

In recent times, businesses and units across the province have increasingly invested in the application of science and technology, as well as in digital transformation, to improve labor productivity, production, and business efficiency. This undertaking, in turn, contributes to the development of the local digital economy.

Petrolimex Dong Nai One Member Limited Liability Company, located in Tran Bien Ward, proactively implements DT based on the platforms and systems of Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex), which were invested in, built early, and synchronized. The company identifies DT as one of its key tasks, aiming to improve management and operational capabilities and customer service quality, meeting development requirements in the new period.

Pham Van Nam, Chairman and Director of Petrolimex Dong Nai One Member Limited Liability Company, said that in its internal governance activities, the company operates its core management platforms effectively and efficiently, including the enterprise resource planning system (ERP-SAP), electronic office system (D-Office), gas station management system (EGAS), electronic invoice system, and gas station automation system (AGAS). Among them, the most important sub-system is the automatic measurement of temperature and actual inventory levels, deployed across nearly 70 affiliated stores and business establishments, thereby enabling real-time management of sales, costs, and inventory. At the same time, the entire process of operations, approvals, and reporting has been digitized on the electronic office platform using digital signatures. As a result, management activities are carried out transparently and swiftly, while minimizing intermediary steps.

Based on the multi-platform system, Petrolimex Dong Nai deploys a "smart station" model with the EGAS and AGAS systems, smart cashless payment systems, electronic invoices... at petrol stations, centralizing data to the operating center, and managing operations from the company office down to the stations and even to the fuel pumps. This initiative creates a large, complete, reliable, and timely (real-time) database to effectively and efficiently serve the company's and the entire Petrolimex system's operational and business management processes.

Delivering greater convenience for consumers

In the context of rapidly advancing technology, for smart consumption models to be replicated and effective, a long-term roadmap with many specific solutions tailored to each residential area is needed, especially those to raise awareness and change consumers' shopping habits.

At Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket in Binh Phuoc Ward, in addition to traditional business methods, the unit has proactively applied and stepped up online sales through channels such as Zalo, Facebook, and linked apps to align with consumer trends and reach a diverse customer base.

Nguyen Quoc Minh, Director of Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket, shared that the supermarket is promoting digital payments by integrating various e-wallets, applying contactless payment technology, and developing multi-channel retail. The focus is on enhancing customer experience, data security, and promoting cashless payments to boost demand and foster digital consumption habits. Currently, cashless transactions account for about 55% of the supermarket's total revenue.

Pham Van Nam added that the digital transformation process at Petrolimex Dong Nai has delivered clear results, improving management efficiency, optimizing operations, and enhancing the performance of the entire system. In particular, the value of cashless payments made by fuel buyers at petrol stations has been rising year by year, with faster growth in recent years. In 2025, cashless payments are projected to increase by 83% from 2024 and account for 28% of purchase value at stores. Including other sales methods, cashless payments account for about 46% of total customer purchases.

Bui Nguyen Huu Van, a resident in Tam Hiep Ward, said: "I regularly use cashless payment utilities for shopping and dining services. In addition, recently, as petrol stations have integrated digital payments into their business operations, I also frequently choose cashless payments when refueling, because this payment method offers many conveniences, incentives, and promotions."

Nguyen Duc Lenh, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam’s Region 2 Branch:

Expanding the cashless payment network

With innovation, the application of modern technology, and administrative reform activities, the quality of and capacity to meet demand for banking services in Dong Nai, especially cashless payment services, have made significant progress in recent years. The convenience of electronic banking products and services, such as card services, electronic funds transfers, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, and QR code payments, has brought benefits to people and businesses in the area. This undertaking has created momentum for expanding cashless payments and promoting the development of digital banking, in line with the orientation of digital economic development in Dong Nai.
