Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairman of the VCCI Vo Tan Thanh emphasized that 2025 was a year of special significance for Vietnam’s economy. GDP growth reached 8.02%, placing the country among the highest growth rates in Southeast Asia. The size of the economy surpassed 514 billion USD, propelling Vietnam to the 32nd place in the world. Within the overall national context, the Southern economic hub, comprising Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Lam Dong, continues to serve as one of the most important growth engines, with the largest number of enterprises nationwide, as well as leading positions in import-export activities and investment attraction.

However, the region is also facing major challenges, including pressure on transport and logistics infrastructure, overloaded development space, increasingly fierce competition in attracting high-quality investment, and rising requirements for green growth, sustainable development and digital transformation. Regional connectivity has yet to reach its full potential and needs to be further promoted to ensure more effective linkage and development.
