Ensuring price stabilization
At present, many livestock and food processing enterprises, supermarkets, and commercial centers in the province have been and are continuing to implement measures to stabilize the market and balance the supply and demand of goods to serve consumers during the upcoming Tet holiday, particularly for essential items such as pork, chicken, poultry eggs, vegetables, and fruits.
According to Vu Thanh Tan, a representative of the Communications department of Central Retail Group in Vietnam, in an effort to stabilize the market and support people in shopping for Tet safely and economically, the GO! hypermarket system is implementing a "no-profit fresh pork sale" program during the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse. The program is running continuously across the GO! supermarket network nationwide, including GO! Dong Nai (Long Hung ward) and GO! Tan Hiep (Tam Hiep ward) in Dong Nai province, from January 29 to February 12 (extending until the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month), featuring key fresh pork products such as pork belly, pork hock, pork shoulder, pork leg, pork chop, and more.
Specifically, the "no-profit fresh pork sale" program is applied by the GO! supermarket system to all domestically sourced fresh pork items, totaling 70 product codes. Among these, 5 items are subject to price locking, meaning their selling prices remain unchanged throughout the program.
In early February 2026, working groups from the Department of Industry and Trade of Dong Nai province conducted surveys and held working sessions with several localities, businesses, and wholesale markets regarding preparations of goods for the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse.
A representative of Dong Nai Food Processing Limited Company (Hung Thinh commune) stated that the company’s reserve of goods for the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse is relatively abundant and diverse. The volume of reserved processed products for this Tet holiday has increased by over 40 percent compared to the same period last year, with a focus on product groups such as gio cha (Vietnamese sausage) and sausages. Notably, the amount of fresh pork has risen by about 35 percent compared to the same period in 2025. The company will ensure price stability for several essential items before and during Tet.
Focusing on balancing supply and demand for Tet goods
In addition to supermarkets, commercial centers, food processing and supply enterprises, and Tet goods, representatives of many wholesale markets, class I, and class II markets in the province stated that they have proactively implemented plans to supply essential goods, ensured sufficient quantities for the peak period leading up to Tet, focused on price stabilization, fire prevention and fighting, and balanced the supply and demand of essential goods for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
In late January 2026, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee issued Official Letter No. 1650/UBND-KTNS on strengthening management, administration, and price stabilization during the 2026 Tet in the province. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and agencies to continuously and closely monitor the developments in supply, demand, and market prices of goods and services under their management and responsibility, especially essential goods and services directly serving the needs of the people.
Nguyen Ngoc Nhan, Head of the Management Board of Dau Giay Agricultural and Food Wholesale Market (Dau Giay commune), shared that the market’s total daily consumption currently averages 230-250 tons per day and night. The volume of agricultural products (vegetables and fruits) planned for reserve and sale during the peak period leading up to Tet, from the 20th to the 28th of the twelfth lunar month (the last market day before Tet), is expected to increase by an average of 15 to 20 percent compared to the previous year's Tet reserves. As a result, projected consumption in the final days before Tet may reach around 300 tons per day and night.
The market will proactively prepare goods, with a focus on food safety and hygiene, while also ensuring the implementation of price monitoring and timely reporting on price developments during the upcoming Tet holiday.
According to Phuong Lam Trade and Service Cooperative, the unit managing two markets: Phuong Lam market (Phu Lam commune) and Tan Phu commune market (Tan Phu commune), the average daily quantity of goods at the two markets is estimated at about 160-180 tons, mainly focusing on vegetables and fruits. Especially in the days leading up to Tet, purchasing power is expected to increase sharply. It is anticipated that the quantity of goods supplied to the market will be nearly 250 tons per day during the 4 days before Tet.
The market management board will intensify daily communication and reminders to business households, urging them to comply with price listings and sell goods at the listed prices to ensure customers' rights when shopping, visiting, and conducting transactions at the market.
