Developing modern livestock farming

20:06, 05/02/2026

Although an industrial province, with an agricultural production value reaching about VND 95 trillion, Dong Nai remains among the country’s leading localities in agricultural development. In particular, livestock farming continues to assert its role as a key pillar, with herd sizes of livestock and poultry ranking among the largest nationwide.

Notably, the high-tech concentrated livestock production and agricultural processing project in Thuan Loi commune is expected to become a driving force for in-depth agricultural restructuring; forming a large-scale high-tech agricultural zone integrating livestock farming, crop cultivation and processing in a closed value chain; and contributing to agricultural modernization associated with green and sustainable economic development.

Many advantages in attracting investment

After administrative consolidation, Dong Nai continues to be the country’s livestock hub, leading nationwide in herd size and output. Currently, the province has nearly 4 million pigs and around 33.3 million poultry.

With these advantages, Dong Nai attracted many corporations and enterprises at an early stage to invest in livestock farming under closed-chain models, covering animal feed production; breeding, veterinary medicine production and trading; and deep processing of livestock products. The livestock sector has applied modern technologies, shifting toward industrial-scale, large-volume commodity production through closed linkages from inputs to outputs.

For enterprises that are interested in and seeking investment opportunities in Dong Nai, we will always accompany and support them within the legal framework, creating an open and stable investment environment so that projects can soon become operational and contribute to local socio-economic development. Dong Nai always welcomes investors who share the aspiration to build a modern, efficient and highly competitive agricultural sector.

Dong Nai’s livestock sector also ranks among the national leaders in applying advanced technical innovations. To date, cold-house livestock farming accounts for about 35% of total pig and poultry herds, with automated feeding and watering systems; 100% of large-scale livestock facilities are equipped with waste treatment systems; 98% of pig herds and 90% of poultry use new breeds. Good livestock farming practices and vaccination-based disease prevention are widely applied. Across the province, 202 farms and three cooperative groups have been certified under VietGAHP or GlobalGAP standards.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Van Thang, during the 2026–2030 period, Dong Nai targets an average annual growth rate of 4–5% in livestock production value. By 2030, the province aims to develop pig herds of around 5 million heads and poultry herds of 48 million; total meat output of 1.3 million tonnes; and egg production of 2 billion eggs. The livestock sector still has significant room for growth, especially through science and technology application in closed chains with high added value.

Creating a technological breakthrough

Thuan Loi commune has favorable geographical and natural conditions for livestock and crop production. However, current production remains fragmented and small-scale, with only 12 small- and medium-sized livestock farms and 87 small household producers.

The high-tech concentrated livestock production and agricultural processing project, with an estimated total investment of about VND 30.5 trillion, will be implemented in Thuan Loi commune. The project includes a 410-hectare high-tech concentrated livestock farming zone; a 76-hectare zone for animal feed production and high-tech agricultural product processing in a closed chain; a 600-hectare area for fruit trees and medicinal plants; and 80 hectares of synchronized technical infrastructure.

In particular, the high-tech concentrated livestock zone will adopt a multi-storey pig farming model, applying artificial intelligence to manage disease control, optimize farming processes and control environmental pollution. This will form a circular, closed ecosystem from farm to table, creating distinct values while ensuring transparency in product origin and quality.

According to Vice Chairman of the Thuan Loi commune People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, the project is of special importance and aligns with the Party’s, the State’s and the province’s orientations toward modern, sustainable agricultural development and strong application of scientific and technological advances. Once implemented, the project will help improve land-use efficiency, form closed production linkages, enhance disease control, protect the environment and move toward a green, modern, circular agricultural model. It will also serve as a catalyst for local socio-economic development by attracting investment, creating jobs, and improving incomes and living standards for local residents, while promoting the development of technical, production and social infrastructure and shaping a new development landscape for Thuan Loi commune in line with sustainable development goals.

According to Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Kim Long, the formation of high-tech agricultural zones, concentrated agricultural production areas, and production linked with processing and markets is an inevitable direction that the province has been persistently pursuing. The launch of the high-tech concentrated livestock production and agricultural processing project in Thuan Loi commune represents a concrete step toward realizing this orientation. The project will not only contribute to in-depth restructuring of the agricultural sector but also aim to build a modern, closed and circular production model, covering breeding, livestock farming, crop cultivation, processing, consumption and export.
